Mahabalipuram Mandapams

Apart from the Rathas there were other constructions too erected by the pallava kings. Mahabalipuram Mandapams are rock cut tmple which depicts the architecture of Pallava era. They were masters in building rock-cut carves and Mandapams. The Mahabalipuram Mandapams are mainly located on the main hill.

Krishna Mandapam Mahabalipuram

Krishna Mandapam Mahabalipuram is the biggest amongst the other Mahabalipuram Mandapams and it is devoted to Lord Krishna. Sulptures in the Krishna Mandapam Mahabalipuram express courageous and energetic adulthood of Lord Krishna. In order to give shelter and protect people and animal from the rain Lord Krishna lifted giant mount Govardhra. Lord Indra god of rain poured rain a lot on the people because of his anger. Stuuning pastoral life of animals and people are portrayed beautifully inside the Krishna Mandama Mahabalipuram.

Varaha Mandapam Mahabalipuram

Varaha Mandapam Mahabalipuram is an outstanding architecture located near to Arjuna's Penance. Entrance has two pillars carved with two lion and cell is protected by two gate keepers.On the North wall there is stunning pictures of Lord Vishnu( Varaha) who is standing on one feet on top of Naga(Snake King). Godness Prithvi(Earth)was in trouble because of Primordial ocean Varaha rescued her. Varaha holding disc with his upper hand and holding Prithvi By his lower hand are beautifully carved inside the Varha Mahabalipuram Mandapams. On the south wall Lord Vishnu as Vamana(Brahmin) is portrayed who pushed Bali to underworld. Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma are also standing near to Lord Vishnu. Eastern wall is portrayed with Goddess Lakshmi along with maindens and elephants.

Mahishasura Mardhini Mandapam

Mahishasuramardhini Mandapam is a rock cut tmple which depicts the architecture of Pallava era. There are three small shrines that show the fantastic art of pallava. Battle between the Godness Durga and Demon Mahishasura are beautifully portrayed inside Mandapam. Mahishasura signify egoism and become more frightful. Lord Krishna, Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva take the form of Goodness to destroy domination of Mahishasura. Striking picture of animals and people ate the main attraction of Mahabaliupuram Mandapams.
